Minimum Qualifications Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications for the position are:
•The successful candidate must be eligible to register for, take the Security Services Assistant 1 test on March 2, 2019, and be reachable for appointment when the listing is provided; or,
•Have previously held the permanent title of Security Services Assistant 1; or,
•Be eligible for transfer to this title.
•Hold valid registration as a Security Guard issued by the NYS Department of State
•Hold a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
•Cleared criminal background investigation
•Continued employment as a Security Services Assistant 1 is dependent upon maintaining current Security Guard registration by the New York State Department of State. Failure to maintain this will result in removal from employment.

Duties Description Job Description:
SUNY Delhi seeks a Security Services Assistant 1 to join the New York State University Police Department at Delhi (UPD). This is an entry-level position that is responsible for independently patrolling and monitoring SUNY Delhi campus buildings that are open to the public. This position does not regularly encounter unruly or irate students and visitors. Security Services Assistant 1 does not have peace or police officer status. This position reports security incidents to a higher level of staff or University Police management according to procedures.

Illustrative Duties:
•Assist Environmental Health and Safety Services with fire extinguisher checks, and fire alarms, on a flexed schedule that would benefit University Police and Environmental Health and Safety staff.
•Assist University Police with inspecting buildings and facilities to detect potential fire and safety hazards.
•Assist University Police with locking doors and windows, and providing assistance with special events.
•Traffic control and assist with parking enforcement.
•Assist Residential Life with special events and assisting visitors that stay in residence halls.
•As directed or prescribed in guidelines or routine, closes fire doors and windows, closes smoke barriers to detect and prevent intrusion, criminal destruction, accidental loss, or damage of State property.
•Call fire departments and notify University Police in case of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons; and may assist in responding to the incident.
•Prepares written reports of shift activities, including actions taken to report or resolve incidents or problems.
•Directs people along designated evacuation routes to safe places to ensure timely evacuation during drills and emergencies.
•May operate a motor vehicle to support patrol or incident response activities.
