Salary RangeFrom $79552 to $99350 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Either 1) Reachable on the Civil Service eligible list; 2) Eligible for reassignment by virtue of having permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 3 (23); OR 3) Eligible for transfer under the provisions of sections 52.6, 70.4 or 70.1 of the Civil Service Law by virtue of having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title.
Duties Description The duties for the Information Technology Specialist 3 include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Oversee staff responsible for daily administration of the Service Desk
• Create and manage procurement initiatives and renewals for the Customer Support Unit Department
• Create reports for IT Management and supervisors
• Supervise and monitor on a daily basis the Operations unit staff and their responsibilities
• Act as a primary communication liaison to keep the agency informed of critical system outages and will be responsible for ensuring staff are responding to priority incidents and service requests
• Suggest process improvements, after identifying common problems and conducting root cause analysis, that could be used to improve NYSTRS products and services
• Actively participate in supervision and technical training classes, as well as assist supervised staff with their professional development
• Produce and maintain Knowledge base documentation for IT department
• Foster collaborative work environment that values team work and assisting others when needed
Additional Comments Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with creating and managing a Knowledgebase
• Experience managing a Service Desk or Help Desk
• Experience with ServiceNow Incident Management or comparable product
• Knowledge of creating reports and KPI’s for Management
• Knowledge of ITIL processes
• Experience with procurement and maintenance renewals
• Administrative experience setting and managing performance goals
• Administrative experience managing staff resources
• Experience working in a large team environment
• Experience supervising a unit consisting of 3 or more staff
• Demonstrates business writing skills to correspond with both technical and business users
• Commitment to providing exceptional customer service
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
