Minimum Qualifications Promotional minimum qualifications: Must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had two years as a Dentist 1, or one year as a dentist 2.
Open-competitive minimum qualifications: Possession of a valid license and registration to practice dentistry in New York State; AND three years of full-time post licensure dentistry experience, one year of which must have included supervising other licensed, registered dentists (Supervision limited to Dental Assistants and/or Dental Hygienists is considered non-qualifying supervisory experience).
Duties
Function as general dental practitioner and also administer institutional dental programs. Such administrative activities are characterized by responsibility for performing employee counseling, consulting on acute dental conditions referred by subordinate dentists, coordinating dental services with other clinical specialties, training staff, and ordering and maintaining dental equipment and supplies.
As a general dental practitioner, incumbents perform the full range of professional dental tasks in connection with the diagnosis and treatment of dental diseases and injuries of teeth and gums as prescribed by agency policy and procedures.
