Minimum Qualifications A Master’s degree or higher in criminal justice or a related field and one year of research experience in the field of criminal justice; OR a master’s degree in any field, and one year of professional research experience including data or statistical analysis using computerized software programs such as Access, SAS, SAS EG, SPSS, Excel, dBase, Lotus or Cobol.

In addition, this position requires at least one year of criminal justice/criminology research experience conducting data analyses that utilize SPSS, SAS, SAS EG, STATA, R or a comparable computer software program; computer proficiency with SPSS or STATA; proficiency in data cleansing; and proficiency in multiple regression analysis (including stepwise regression); in addition to permanent service in this title or one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-21 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law.

Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with, or experience in supervising/training others in advanced statistical analysis and data cleansing is preferred.

Duties Description The Program Research Specialist 3 (CJ) will be assigned to the Office of Justice Research and Performance (OJRP). Reporting to a Program Research Specialist 4 (CJ), the incumbent will conduct criminal and juvenile justice research using data analysis techniques and statistical methods. The incumbent will supervise the work of a Program Research Specialist 2 (CJ) and/or student intern.

Additional Comments Appointment is subject to Division of Budget waiver approval.
