Minimum Qualifications Current DOH employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Pharmacy Consultant, G-25 OR NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service as a Pharmacy Consultant, G-25.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in public health programs and/or healthcare project management. Administrative and program experience, including but not limited to: interpretation of Federal and State guidance for program staff, developing guidance, program policy and other documents, and preparing reports and correspondence. Ability to formulate program recommendations based upon data analysis. Development and delivery of presentations, written and verbal communications and reports are preferred.
Duties Description The Pharmacy Consultant will analyze prescription data to detect diversion of controlled substances; provide pharmacological research and consultation on special projects relating to drugs, pharmacy, and public health concerns; and serve as a liaison between state and federal agencies regarding controlled substance scheduling. The Pharmacy Consultant will provide presentations, as well as written and verbal responses, to healthcare professionals regarding prescription controlled substance laws and regulations; as well as assist in the development of controlled substance programs and policies, regulations and laws. The Pharmacy Consultant will assist in the development of criteria for drug utilization review programs; perform clinical reviews of medication histories for retrospective prescription drug monitoring programs; conduct reviews to identify aberrant utilization patterns or cases and intervene when warranted, and assist in Bureau initiatives and programs as assigned.
