Minimum Qualifications We are seeking a prosecutor with at least eight (8) years of experience. Candidates must have substantial grand jury and trial experience; experience investigating and prosecuting homicide cases and/or cases involving alleged law enforcement misconduct; and excellent writing skills. Verbal and/or written proficiency in other languages (e.g., Spanish, Mandarin, Russian, Korean, etc.) in addition to English is a plus, but not required.

Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York State and be admitted to practice law in New York State. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that attorneys in the OAG be citizens of the United States. A two (2) year commitment upon being hired is a condition of employment.

Duties Description The New York State Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking an experienced prosecutor to join its Special Investigations and Prosecutions Unit in Albany or New York City. The Special Investigations and Prosecutions Unit was created in July 2015 in response to the issuance of an Executive Order by the Governor of the State of New York appointing the Attorney General as a special prosecutor “to investigate, and if warranted, prosecute certain matters involving the death of an unarmed civilian . . . caused by a law enforcement officer.” The Unit includes experienced homicide prosecutors and investigators throughout the State. This position reports to the Chief of the Special Investigations and Prosecutions Unit. Some travel may be required.
