Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Section 70.1 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service in a title SG-12 or above deemed eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Eligible List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for Office Assistant 3 (Calculations). If you are on the Civil Service eligible list for Office Assistant 3 (Calculations), you may receive a canvass letter. You must complete and return it as instructed on the letter.
Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Education Policy is seeking candidates for an Office Assistant 3 (Calculations) position in the New York State School for the Deaf (NYSSD). Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Oversee the accounts payable functions at the NYSSD, including calculating and paying New York State sales tax;
• Provide training and cross-training in accounts payable functions to business office staff;
• Maintain all maintenance billing for NYSSD students;
• Compile and prepare financial data for budgetary purposes;
• Maintain QuickBooks accounts for all gifts and bequests;
• Reconcile bank accounts for all appropriate monies;
• Assist the Institution Steward with the submission and tracking of State and federal grants;
• Oversee the purchasing and inventory database functions of the business office; and
• Supervise business office staff performing data entry and clerical functions.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Fingerprinting through the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Division of Criminal Justice Services, a background check with the Office of Children and Family Services and clearance from the Justice Center Staff Exclusion List is required for employment. Fees associated with this process are at the applicant’s expense.
*Leads to a maximum salary of $58,028 with annual performance advances.
