Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Archives and Records Management Specialist 2.

Eligible List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Archives and Records Management Specialist 2 eligible list. If you are on the Civil Service eligible list for this title, you may receive a canvass letter. You must complete and return it as instructed on the letter.

Section 52.6 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title allocated SG-16 or higher eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description The New York State Archives is seeking candidates for an Archives and Records Management Specialist 2 position within the Documentary Heritage Program (DHP). The DHP supports projects sponsored by not-for-profit archives, libraries, historical societies and similar institutions within New York State and from consortia or cooperating groups of such agencies. The incumbent of this position will support access to records in repositories throughout New York State, as well as provide training and technical support to repositories statewide for the management, preservation and access to historical records. This position will also participate in the delivery of updates and guidance to archival organizations across New York State. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Write grant applications for federal and private funds in support of archival access projects for non-government repositories;
• Track efforts contributed to cost share portions of grant budgets and prepare reports;
• Assist with the development of Requests for Proposals for contractual services to repositories in New York State;
• Manage intake and review of applications for grant funds and submission of required reports; and
• Develop training and technical support materials for historical records repositories and information related to archival standards.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a contingent permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. The work schedule for this position includes hours of Monday through Friday (9:00am – 5:00pm) with rotating Saturdays (9:00am – 5:00pm). This position also involves occasional overnight travel and frequent workday travel of at least 20% to historical records repositories across the State and to organizations representing historical records repositories. Verification of degree and/or experience will be required for all candidates at the time of interview.

* Leads to a maximum salary of $71,980 based on annual performance advances.
