Candidates must be reachable for appointment on the current Civil Service eligible list for the title;

OR

Transfer Opportunity: Candidates must have one year of permanent service as an Office Assistant 2 Keyboarding and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. In order to be eligible for 70.1 transfer, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a qualifying title within two salary grades of the Grade 9 level.

Please Note: Candidates who are not transferring from a keyboarding title must possess adequate keyboarding skills (i.e., the ability to type 30 words per minute with at least 96% accuracy) as demonstrated by passing the Keyboarding Performance Test.

Duties Description As an Office Assistant 2 (Keyboarding), you either would supervise two or more Office Assistants 1 or other lower-level staff; or directly perform the more difficult or complicated clerical processing and office support work for which substantive knowledge of the program area is required; or do both. You would spend most of your work time performing keyboarding, data entry, chart compilation or arrangement, or tasks involving typing into computerized systems.

Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable. 2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees will be required to pay any necessary fees. Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR will be barred from appointment.

Additional Comments: The Mission statement of Elmira Psychiatric Center ACT Teams is to provide needed intensive mental health services in a rural community setting to individuals who have difficulty maintaining affiliation with traditional mental health treatment and service providers. The ACT team’s goal is to enhance mental health services in a rural area and provide a better quality of life for program consumers, by offering an Evidence Based Practice (EBP) service to a group of individuals that have not achieved success by utilizing traditional mods of treatment. The Finger Lakes ACT team is based in Geneva, NY and covers Ontario, Seneca, and Wayne Counties.
