Duties Description The New York State Office of the Attorney General is seeking an experienced lawyer to lead its Civil Rights Bureau, located in New York City. o attempts to withhold federal criminal justice funding from so-called sanctuary jurisdictions, and
o The addition of a citizenship question on the 2020 census.
• suing in furtherance of enforcing bars to source of income discrimination
• suing and entering a consent decree with the New York City Board of Elections for illegally purging thousands of Brooklyn voters from the rolls;
• suing and settling with a school district for denying education to immigrant youth;
• obtaining the largest known monetary settlement with an individual landlord;
• investigating major companies for fostering a hostile work environment that enabled sexual harassment and discrimination;
• bringing enforcement actions against companies that lie about subcontracting to women and minority-owned businesses; and
• investigating and reaching settlement agreements with school districts that have discipline policies and practices that discriminate against students on the basis of race, ethnicity and/or disability status.
