Minimum Qualifications •Associates in Applied Science degree from an accredited institution in the field of Fire Science, Fire Protection Technology, or a related field.
•Minimum 1 Year related work experience, or minimum 2 years safety related volunteer experience.
•Ability to read and understand diagrams and specifications.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software program.
•Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving items up to 50lbs.

Preferred Qualifications
•Licensed NYS Building Safety Inspector
•Experience interpreting and applying NY State and IBC building codes, NFPA, and OSHA regulations
•NICET (National Institute of Certification in Engineering Technology) Level I Certification

Duties Description SUNY Delhi seeks a dynamic, forward-thinking, and engaging Environmental Health, Fire, and Life Safety Specialist (EHS) to join the Facilities Department. SUNY Delhi prides itself on being a welcoming college community for all. The EHS Fire and Life Safety Specialist will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of fire and life safety,and other safety programs for the campus. This position will be responsible for testing fire alarm systems, monitoring sprinkler systems, and maintaining life safety equipment such as AED's, and fire extinguishers. The EHS is responsible for issuing hot work permits, recordkeeping, as well as, employee and student training. Duties will include: inspecting facilities and systems, coordinating repairs of life safety equipment, working with the campus facilities department to complete repairs. Must be able to prioritize assignments, work in a fast-paced environment, and respond to emergency conditions, including after-hours. It will be essential to have skill, or gain knowledge and understanding, interpreting NY State Building Code, NY State Fire Code, NFPA, and PESH regulations.
