Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled journey-level position which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis.

Duties Description Will be required to perform maintenance, repair, installation and construction activities. May be required to supervise others while performing these activities. Will be required to plan and lay out construction, repair and maintenance projects and have a working knowledge of applicable standards and plumbing and electrical code regulations. Must be able to diagnose problems in framing, roofing, masonry foundations, electrical systems, plumbing, water and sewer systems, motors, pumps, boilers, water heaters, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, septic systems, lift stations and grinder pumps. Must be able to use hand tools, portable power tools, shop equipment and measuring and testing instruments appropriate for the projects to which assigned. Will be required to communicate using proper radio etiquette. Must be able to perform repairs in electrical, plumbing, carpentry and equipment. Will be required to drive to locations within Region 4 to perform duties. Will be required to respond to emergencies after hours, weekends and holidays. Will procure supplies and materials purchased from vendors under state contract, as well as utilize preferred sources as required. Will obtain quotes for various projects and prepare purchase requisitions and track supplies and materials to ensure they are used properly. Will be responsible for accurate and timely submission of schedules and weekly work orders.

Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and/or work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

This is a temporary position with a duration of 4/1/19 through 3/31/20. Actual work hours and schedule may vary and will be discussed at interview.
