Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Public Buildings Manager 1.
Eligible List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Public Buildings Manager 1 Civil Service eligible list. If you are on the Civil Service eligible list for Public Buildings Manager 1, you may receive a canvass letter. You must complete and return it as instructed on the letter.
Section 70.1 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service in any of the following titles: Assistant Toll Division Manager, Toll Division Manager, Toll Plaza Manager 1, Toll Plaza Manager 2, or Toll Plaza Manager 3.
Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Performance Improvement Management Services is seeking candidates for a Public Buildings Manager 1. The incumbent of this position will provide or arrange for building services in the Cultural Education Center, and will supervise State employees and engage in custodial services, maintenance, and security by assigning work and inspecting the results for quality and safety. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Administer a building maintenance program by scheduling preventative maintenance;
• Initiate work orders;
• Recommend modifications to existing procedures;
• Supervise the acquisition and storage of supplies and materials;
• Observe and enforce compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and laws;
• Perform on-site evaluation of service contracts;
• Advise staff, visitors, and volunteers of upcoming repairs to facilities that may result in disruption to services or access;
• Investigate complaints regarding health, comfort, and safety; and
• Perform maintenance and snow removal, as necessary.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointee’s negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits.
*Leads to a maximum salary of $58,028 based on annual performance advances.
