Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be:
• Permanent service as an Occupational Therapy Assistant 1 or 2, OR;
• Eligible to 70.1 transfer to an Occupation Therapy Assistant title, OR;
• Reachable on the current Civil Service List for Occupational Therapy Assistant 1 or 2, OR:
• Provisional appointment may be considered. To be eligible for provisional appointment you must be certified and currently registered to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in NewYork State AND have two years of post-certification occupational therapy assistant experience.
• Appointment to an Occupation Therapy Assistant 1 may also be considered. For provisional appointment you must be eligible** for certification OR be certified and currently registered to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in New York State. After two years of satisfactory experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant 1, you will be advanced to Occupational Therapy Assistant 2 without further examination.

Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This Occupational Therapy Assistant 2 position will be primarily focused on providing services to our homes and programs in Chenango, Otsego, and Delaware counties, but may also be required to provide services to individuals receiving services in other counties as needs arise. This dynamic position will be involved in training new employees in pertinent areas of Bed Safety and/or the Dining Experience. The OTAII will also work with individuals, staff, and other team members to promote wellness activities, and to enhance levels of independence and ability. The person in this role needs to be flexible to meet the needs of the individuals we serve, which may mean visiting sites at different times during the day and on various days as determined by the need of the program and the OT department.
If providing OT treatments, the person in this position will do so under the supervision of a credentialed Occupational Therapist. This person will participate in screening/observing and reporting changes which may indicate further occupational therapy evaluation to be appropriate.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with Occupational Therapy department staff to meet the needs of the individuals that we serve
• Make house visits as assigned and complete OT House Visit Form & provide follow up
• Study and learn OPWDD guidelines for Bed Safety and Occupational Therapy Department’s Role in the Dining Experience, participate in the training of staff on these subjects as assigned
• Complete or assist with basic Occupational Therapy screenings
• Participate in wheelchair and adaptive equipment care and basic maintenance
• Attend meetings as requested
• Assist with supporting the Teams as a related service
• Provision of direct OT services provided as needed based on Evidence Based Practices
• Training of staff/care providers/community supports on implementation of OT related plans/recommendations/routines, etc.
• Train staff on recommended Adaptive Equipment usage
• Complete other duties as assigned.
• Must have good time management skills and ability to work independently and as a team to meet the needs of the individuals we serve
• Good organization skills and capacity to prioritize tasks is essential
• Must possess strong communication skills to relay information within OT Department, to other staff and team members, and to individuals.
• Ability to document in a thorough and concise manner is necessary.
