Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Education Policy is seeking candidates for a Supervisor, School Business Management position in the Office of Grants Management. The Office of Grants Management in the Office of School Governance, Policy, and Religious and Independent Schools supports two financial functions, with additional support provided to others on an as needed basis. Primarily, the Office reviews, and if appropriate, approves and pays claims for several programs which reimburse religious and independent schools for the costs of providing certain state-mandated services. These include oversight of the State’s Mandated Services Aid and Comprehensive Attendance Plan programs, which represent over $200 million in State taxpayer support for religious and independent schools. The Office also supports the intake and initial review of a wide range of grant applications received by NYSED’s program offices serving students in prekindergarten through grade 12. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Ensure that all eligible schools receive the funds to which they are entitled;
• Provide effective coordination with NYSED technical experts to implement the legislative intent of statutes and annual appropriations and legislative changes;
• Communicate with external parties regarding key programs and policies. These may include key stakeholder groups representing the State’s religious and independent school community, as well as with individual school leaders and their representatives;
• Deliver public presentations and/or web-delivered information sessions regarding program updates;
• Oversee the review of claims for reimbursement submitted by nearly 1000 individual schools. This work requires good communication with nonpublic school leaders and their representatives;
• Prepare annual updates of program requirements;
• Analyze legislation and provide response to correspondence from stakeholders, elected officials, etc; and
• Supervise lower-level professional and clerical staff.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. *Leads to a salary of $116,844 based on annual performance advances.
