Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable for appointment from the current Civil Service eligible list;
OR for Transfer Opportunity:
Candidates must have one year of permanent service as an Associate Psychologist and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be in a title deemed appropriate for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law;
Provisional Appointment:
In the event that there is not a valid eligible list, candidates who meet the following qualifications may be qualified for a provisional appointment:
? Candidates must have a doctoral degree in a clinical field of psychology AND have completed a one-year, full-time clinical internship or traineeship; OR one year of psychology experience in a clinical setting under the supervision of a Licensed Psychologist.
*Qualifying experience for Associate Psychologist must primarily include any direct care experience with individuals, families, or groups in a hospital, clinic, facility, private practice, or correctional setting under the supervision of a Licensed Psychologist. Qualifying experience must primarily include performing psychological evaluations or assessment tests, psychological diagnostic testing, developing psychological treatment plans, providing psychological counseling and treatment in one or more of the following areas: mental and/or emotional disorders, developmental disabilities, alcoholism, addictions, sex offender assessment and treatment, or forensic mental health.
Non-qualifying experience include but are not limited to, experience in administration, administrative services, administrative oversight, training, special education, behavior specialist, habilitation specialist, project management, research, or primarily supervisory experience. Other non-qualifying experience includes, but is not limited to, experience in experimental psychology, research psychology, industrial psychology, organizational psychology, utilization review, guidance counseling, etc.
Non-qualifying master’s and doctoral degrees include, but are not limited to the following: education, educational psychology, transpersonal psychology, educational counseling, guidance counseling, experimental psychology, industrial psychology, psychometrics, organizational psychology, student and personnel services, mental health counseling, pastoral psychology, human relations, etc. NOTE: IF YOU ARE APPOINTED PROVISIONALLY, YOU MUST TAKE THE NEXT SCHEDULED CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION FOR THIS TITLE, AND YOUR SCORE MUST BE REACHABLE ON THE RESULTING ELIGIBLE LIST BEFORE YOU CAN BE PERMANENTLY APPOINTED, IF YOU DO NOT PASS THE EXAMINATION OR ACHIEVE A REACHABLE SCORE, YOU MAY NOT BE RETAINED.

Duties Description Under the supervision of a Licensed Psychologist, the incumbent will be responsible for but not limited to:
• Develop Behavioral Support Plan (BSP) based on Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) consistent with 633.16 regulations, as well as other documentation to ensure treatment of challenging behaviors.
• In-service staff regarding components of BSPs with emphasis on behavioral antecedents, replacement behaviors, pro and reactive intervention strategies and data collection procedures.
• Maintain up-to-date monthly data collection sheets and analyze data.
• Present individuals who have BSPs to Human Rights Committee and if needed, Informed Consent Committee.
• As appropriate, review psychotropic medications with psychiatrist, providing data as needed.
• Conduct violence and sexual risk evaluations, complete risk management plans as needed when required integrates this material into packets prepared for Statewide Forensic Committee.
• Provide individual and group counseling.
• Participate in all Team and Psychology Department meetings.
• Adhere to regulations regarding neglect and abuse and report violations to the Justice Center per established protocols.
• Conduct psychological impact evaluations should individuals be a witness to or victim of a traumatic event.
• Other duties related to psychology as needed.
