Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled trades-worker or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course.
The ideal candidate will possess a Class A CDL.
Duties Description Assists in the maintenance and construction of buildings, trails, parking areas, hunting & fishing access elements, department assets and infrastructure. This includes snow removal at DEC managed facilities throughout the Region.
In addition, this position will aid in the operation and maintenance of 53 facilities throughout the Region. Essential to ensuring the protection of staff and public health and safety.
- Perform a variety of tasks of the buildings and grounds maintenance trades.
- Operate Lawn mowers, weed trimmers, chain saws and similar types of gas powered equipment.
- Perform a variety of tasks utilizing power and hand tools including saws, hammers, drills, sanders, table saws and similar tools used in the construction and maintenance trades.
- Perform a variety of tasks of the construction trades including but not limited to carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, electrical and HVAC.
Additional Comments This position will perform most of their job duties in the outdoor work environment. Class A CDL preferred. Must have valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions.Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 100 pounds.
This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration of 4/1/19 to 11/30/19. Program needs will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to termination date indicated. Actual work schedule may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
