Duties Description Under the direction of the Historic Site Manager at Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site, the incumbent of the Park Worker 2 position will perform building and grounds maintenance including mowing, hedge and shrub trimming, parking lot and related maintenance, refuse collection, restroom maintenance, as well as light historic housekeeping under the direction of appropriate site staff. The Park Worker 2 will serve as the front-line staff for the Historic House. The incumbent will operate out of the front desk of the museum, meet and greet patrons as they enter the museum and operate as a docent for self-guided tours at the Manor Hall. The worker will become conversant in the history of the site and its role in both local and national history. The incumbent will operate the cash register, prepare bank deposits, run daily reports and keep related records and documents. The will assist in snow removal, including shoveling snow, and operating snow throwers and vehicles to plow snow. The Park Worker 2 will also assist in building and repairing paths, benches, and park equipment, and will periodically assist with maintenance and operations at other State Park facilities as needed. The incumbent will operate and perform routine maintenance on a variety of power-driven mechanical equipment, including mowers, line trimmers, leaf blowers, snow throwers and power saws. The Park Worker 2 will assist with maintenance and repair activities in a variety of trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, and mechanical repairs for Philipse Manor Hall with respect to the facility status as a National Historic Landmark. The Park Worker 2 will assign, aid, and help evaluate the work of subordinate staff. The candidate will assist in emergency situations by understanding and applying emergency procedures and practices and assisting and directing staff and park patrons to minimize potential problems. The Park Worker 2 will maintain records including those pertaining to daily maintenance, AED, and personal timekeeping.
Additional Comments Operational Needs:
Applicants must be a current OPRHP employee, and be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor. The incumbent of the Park Worker 2 position must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License as a term and condition of employment. The Park Worker 2 must be able to comprehend written material, communicate effectively with other staff and park patrons and be able and willing to supervise employees. The Park Worker 2 will typically work Tuesday through Saturday and must be available to work other schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays, based on the operational needs of the facility.
