Minimum Qualifications Two years’ experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a park, historic site, or recreational facility; OR two years’ experience as a trades assistant under the supervision of a skilled trades¬person, or completion of an appropriate two-year technical/trades school course.

Duties Description Under the direction of the Park Manager at Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park, the incumbent of the Park Worker 3 position will operate and perform routine maintenance on a variety of power-driven mechanical equipment, including heavy equipment, trucks, tractors, mowers, line trimmers, and power saws. The Park Worker 3 will perform building and grounds maintenance and all aspects of tree maintenance including evaluation, pruning, felling and removal involving the operation of a chain saw, bucket truck, and chipper. The Park Worker 3 will perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair activities in a variety of trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, and mechanical repairs for Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park with respect to the facility status as a National Historic Landmark. The Park Worker 3 will assign, supervise, review, train and evaluate the work of subordinate staff and assist in emergency situations by applying emergency procedures and practices and assisting and directing staff and park patrons to minimize potential problems. The Park Worker 3 will maintain records including those pertaining to daily maintenance, AED, bulk petroleum storage, and personal timekeeping. During winter months, the incumbent of the Park Worker 3 will assist in snow removal, shovel snow, and operate snow throwers and vehicles to plow snow. The Park Worker 3 will also assist in building and repairing roads, paths, benches, trails and park equipment and will periodically assist with maintenance and operations at other State Park facilities as needed.

Additional Comments Operational Needs:
The incumbent of the Park Worker 3 position must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License as a term and condition of employment. The Park Worker 3 must possess and maintain current chainsaw operational training under an approved program or obtain the training within the probationary period. The Park Worker 3 must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor, comprehend written material, communicate effectively with other staff and park patrons and have the ability to supervise employees. The Park Worker 3 will seasonally work Monday through Friday, 7:00AM to 3:30PM, and must be available to work other schedules, including weekends and holidays based on the operational needs of the facility.
