Duties Description The incumbent must be able to perform the following essential functions:
• Perform routine processing activities, including checking forms for completeness and accuracy.
• Maintain a working knowledge of accounting principles and procedures in the development, examination, review and analysis of financial and accounting records including the preparation of reports, statements and reconciliations.
• Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and the ability to effectively prioritize work based on various deadlines.
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills, maintain thorough documentation, and meet deadlines.
• Address daily Positive Pay exceptions. Correctly resolve exceptions in a timely manner.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in response to inquiries from state agencies, employees and auditors from other agencies, control agencies, financial institutions.
• Assist in the annual unclaimed funds process, including research, data input, check reissuance and data transfer; reissue state issued checks due to loss, destruction, forgery, name or address change; request and track re-issued checks.
• Utilize various PC systems and resources to:
o Review/update databases and spreadsheets.
o Enter and retrieve data, prepare reports.
o Manage electronic mailboxes.
o Interface with bank websites to place stops on checks, make inquiries regarding check status, and to verify balances or transactions.
• Participate in special projects as needed.
• Develop and maintain working knowledge of NYS and bank accounting systems, Department policies, rules and regulations.
• Adhere to the Department's time and attendance rules and regulations.
This position is at Treasury's downtown offices, located at 110 State Street, Albany, NY. Parking may be available at the Office of General Service's peripheral parking lots.
