Minimum Qualifications Qualifications:
•A minimum of five (5) years of experience in government and/or politics.
•Experience working with local, state and federal officials and community groups; preferably experience working with these groups in the Albany/Poughkeepsie Region.
•Exceptional and proven judgment managing, building and sustaining external relationships.
•Demonstrated success with decision makers around advocacy and policy based issues.
•Experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
•Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while meeting all deadlines.
•Ability to prepare written reports and make oral presentations.
•Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.
•Fluency in other languages in addition to English is a plus, but not required.

Duties Description The Intergovernmental Affairs Bureau in the New York State Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking a Regional Director for the combined Albany/Poughkeepsie Region. The Albany Region includes: Albany, Columbia, Greene, Schoharie, Schenectady, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Washington, Fulton, Montgomery, Hamilton and Warren counties. The Poughkeepsie Region includes: Orange, Dutchess, Sullivan and Ulster counties. Intergovernmental Affairs is responsible for the coordination of all significant communications between the OAG and New York's public and elected officials. The Bureau also orchestrates the Office's community outreach initiatives, partnering with not-for-profit, grassroots, community and issue-based organizations, as well as elected officials. The Bureau is tasked with educating the public on key issues the Office is working on, such as internet safety, consumer frauds, civil and labor rights, housing and a host of other issues of importance. This position reports to the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs and may be based in either Albany or Poughkeepsie.

Job Description:
•Represent the Attorney General in the community throughout the region.
•Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, community leaders and community groups:
oServe as primary point of contact for elected officials and community leaders who approach the office to resolve issues impacting their constituencies; and
oPartner with elected officials and community groups on outreach presentations and attend community events.
•Serve as expert in region, advising the Attorney General and staff on local issues, the political dynamics and other matters.
•Organize regional visits for the Attorney General, Executives, Bureau Chiefs and other OAG staff.
•Organize advocacy campaigns to advance the Attorney General’s legislative initiatives and develop outreach strategies surrounding various types of public service announcements.
