Salary RangeFrom $41130 to $50405 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law by having at least one year of permanent service in a qualifying title within two salary grades of the Grade 11 level. Candidates with the following experience are encouraged to apply:
• Strong technology skills in a Windows environment, including knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and using the internet effectively
• Experience using the Statewide Learning Management System (SLMS) as a Learner, Manager, and/or Administrator a plus
• Experience using any/all of the following a plus: Microsoft Access, Microsoft Publisher, WebEx, SharePoint
Duties Description The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), Center for Human Resources Management, Bureau of Education and Workforce Development (BEWD), is recruiting to fill a Secretary 1, Grade 11 position.
The incumbent will perform the full range of secretarial duties in support of Bureau operations. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Provide the full range of secretarial support: prepare draft correspondence, correct and format draft documents, proofread documents for grammatical and typographical errors.
• Use various computer applications to prepare documents and reports and track data/processes.
• Answer routine and complex telephone calls and inquiries. Forward telephone calls to appropriate staff, and screen visitors.
• Arrange and schedule meetings, conferences, and training for assigned BEWD staff.
• Research and produce materials (attachments, charts, etc.) for various projects.
• Assist employees in understanding training requirements, provide them with appropriate materials and instructions, assist them in obtaining appropriate training-related services, and maintain records of completion.
• Use various computer-based systems, including the Statewide Learning Management System (SLMS), and supports to manage, monitor, and report staff training functions and activities.
• Create and maintain various distribution lists in Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint team sites.
• Maintain the BEWD filing systems.

Additional Comments BEWD is part of OMH’s Central Office, and has its office space conveniently located on the grounds of the Capital District Psychiatric Center, 75 New Scotland Avenue, Albany. Employees at this location enjoy ample parking, and easy access from the New York State Thruway and other arterials. It is within walking distance or a short drive of OMH’s Central Office at 44 Holland Avenue.
