Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries; marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.
Preferred candidates will have proficiency in common programs such as Microsoft Access and Excel. Surveys require monitors to be able to detect small butterflies at a distance and differentiate between red and green. Experience in field identification of insects, reptiles and amphibians is also preferred.
Duties Description This position is required to perform technical activities to manage wildlife habitat and monitor wildlife populations of insect, reptile and amphibian species. Specific duties include monitoring insect and reptile populations in remote locations with rugged terrain, seed collection, and application of herbicide. Office duties will include data entry, maintenance of databases, and data analysis.
Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain. Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Daily travel to work sites may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Daily hours may vary depending on work needs. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 35 pounds.
This is a seasonal, hourly appointment, ending no later than 9/30/2019. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to 9/30/2019.
Actual work schedule may vary from week to week and could include weekends and holidays according to program needs. Total hours worked will not exceed 40 hours per week. Travel requirements will be discussed at the interview.
