Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled trades-worker or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course. Welding skills preferred.

Duties Description Duties and responsibilities will include operating tractors, skidsteers, riding mowers, push mowers and weedeaters. General landscaping tasks which will include beautification of multiple gardens, raking lawns, trimming trees and bushes. Skills in both general and finish carpentry, plumbing, electrical and masonry repairs which can include laying sheetrock, installing molding, resurfacing floors, installing windows, repairing concrete steps, repairing or replacing indoor plumbing. Snowplowing and snow removal during winter months. Basic automotive/machinery repair skills which can include oil changes, replace worn out parts and filter replacements. Operate medium-duty trucks while transporting machinery to hatcheries. Assist with laying pipes and installing valves and connections at multiple hatcheries.

Additional Comments Must have valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overtime may be required. Must have a valid Class B CDL within 6 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements. Will be subject to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA) of 1991, which requires employee testing for drug and alcohol abuse. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment, ending no later than 3/31/20. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to 3/31/20. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
