Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled trades-worker or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course.
Preferred qualifications: chainsaw certification, including First Aid/CPR.
Duties Description Perform routine, repetitive maintenance, installation and repair tasks in one or a combination of the mechanic, building construction, motor equipment, and electrical trades. May perform journey level activities under supervision or after receiving detailed instructions, to learn and perfect skills. Operate heavy equipment such as trucks, tractors, front end loaders, etc. Operate light self-propelled equipment such as power mowers, chain saws, power saws, etc. Perform a variety of tasks utilizing power and manual hand tools including saw, hammers, drills, sanders, etc. Possess ability to perform a variety of construction trades including masonry, carpentry and electrical. Must be will and able to do manual work in the park such as lifting trash cans chest high, using rakes and shovels, able to operate push lawnmowers, leaf blowers, grass trimmers and O turn mower. Must be able to perform repairs in electrical, plumbing, carpentry and equipment. Willing and able to supervise employees ensuring staff understand and carry out duties in a timely manner with consideration to the safety of all employees.
Additional Comments Must have valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration of 4/1/19 to 3/31/20. Program needs will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to termination date indicated. Actual work schedule, duties, and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
