Minimum Qualifications A. Experience

Four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative, consultative or supervisory experience in a mental health program including one of the following:

1. One (1) year of satisfactory experience in a position as
administrative head of a multi-disciplinary treatment team;

OR

2. One (1) year of satisfactory supervisory, professional, or
administrative experience in the development, operation,
and/or implementation of the mental health service delivery
system for State facilities, counties, or local/private agencies
in two (2) or more of the following areas: program
development, management procedures, community
organization, resource planning, funding, program proposals,
advisory boards, consumer and community advocacy and
intergovernmental relations.

AND

B. Education

A Master's degree in a mental hygiene discipline (including physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, speech pathology and audiology, communication disorders, psychology, recreation therapy, rehabilitation counseling, education, nursing), hospital administration, community mental health, business or public administration or other administrative area specifically related to health care, behavioral or social science from an accredited school; or a valid license to practice medicine in New York State or Canada. Current registration or licensure required where applicable.

Duties Description In consultation and cooperation with members of KPC’s Executive Management Team, the DDPC 1 - Operations will perform a wide range of activities designed to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the services provided at KPC, while ensuring that individuals receiving services at the facility receive services in the least restrictive, most integrated setting. The DDPC 1 - Operations will supervise, coordinate, oversee and evaluate the work performed by KPC’s inpatient treatment teams, ensuring that individuals receiving services at the facility receive the care, protections, supports, and services needed to achieve positive outcomes, allowing these individuals to be expeditiously discharged and, to the extent that it is clinically appropriate, live in community settings suitable to their needs. The DDPC 1 – Operations will work with clinical and medical leadership to identify barriers to discharge and develop solutions to address those barriers. The DDPC 1 – Operations will also design and implement policies to provide for service coordination and linkage upon an individual’s discharge to minimize the risk of decompensation and re-institutionalization.

Additional Comments Kingsboro Psychiatric Center (KPC), a Joint Commission (TJC) accredited mental health facility located on a historic campus in Brooklyn, New York, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 1 – Operations (DDPC 1 – Operations) to join our leadership team. KPC provides comprehensive, integrated services 24 hours per day for hospitalized patients and operates three Transitional Living Residences; an 80-bed Family Care Program with certified homes in the community; a satellite clinic on campus; and two community-based outpatient clinics located in the Canarsie and Williamsburg neighborhoods that provide assessment and treatment planning; health screening and referrals; discharge planning; verbal therapies; medication therapy; medication education; symptoms management; psychiatric rehabilitation readiness determination; case management; crisis management; clinical support; mobile outreach; and family support services. Background Investigation and Fees:
