Minimum Qualifications Education & Requirements:
Education Level required: Bachelor’s degree in business, liberal arts and sciences; Master’s degree preferred in business, public administration, liberal arts, social sciences, urban planning, or similar fields.
Relevant experience required: 3-5 years direct experience in economic development, government, or business.
Knowledge required: Knowledge of WNY development context; familiarity with business, not-for-profit, and governmental agencies and general knowledge of New York State’s geography and economies. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with exceptional customer service skills. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously, take initiative, and work independently. Strong attention to detail and independent follow through are highly important. Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word; Database Management
Duties Description Basic Function:
Develop and support the administration of economic development incentives for projects undertaken by businesses and organizations such as municipalities, and not-for-profits, and local economic development organizations that advance the WNY regional economic development strategy
Work Performed:
•Gain an understanding of ESD incentive programs and develop projects with local businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and municipalities. Prepare appropriate project scopes and prospective state incentives in conjunction with regional director, deputy director, and senior project managers.
•Draft administrative documents including origination documents, board and review materials, procurement paperwork, presentation materials, and reports as needed.
•Assist with data analysis to be used in informing economic development efforts.
•General management of a portfolio of active grants, maintaining contact with projects throughout their duration of ESD funding. Coordinate with internal contacts and address issues as they may arise.
•Communicate with applicants and applicant reps, including telephone, email and paper correspondence.
•Maintain up-to-date internal records on projects, ensuring that project information is accurate in the web-based project tracking system.
•Other projects/initiatives as assigned by the Regional Director or Deputy Director.
