Duties Description Under the general direction of the Economic Development Program Administrator 3, the incumbent in this Economic Development Program Specialist 2 (EDPS2) position will serve as an industry director in the Strategic Business division and shall be responsible for three industry clusters: distribution, agribusiness, and homeland/cyber security.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Serve as Project Originator for the Strategic Business unit
• Identify/Assist/Attract business in the clean-technology and clean, renewable energy sectors
• Locate suitable sites/infrastructure for project development
• Organize and participate on site visits, in coordination with local developers
• Assess state and local incentives for business attraction/retention
• Prepare incentive proposals (IPs) for agency-approved projects
• Prepare press releases and reports in relation to agency-approved projects
• Serve as the division’s industry sector expert
• Maintain a deep understanding of the industry/industries for which the incumbent will be supporting; particularly distribution and transportation equipment
• Network and develop relationships within the industry, and identify business opportunities
• Recommend strategies and/or policies for business attraction/retention in NYS
• In correlation with the Economic Development Program Administrator 3, serve as the key account manager to strategic, NY-based businesses
• Identify NY-based businesses’ circumstances and its related needs
• Serve as the point of contact for agency’s clients and assist as necessary
• Address requests from the Economic Development Program Administrator 3 and/or the Executive Chamber
• Prepare/Submit biweekly progress summaries
• Participate during staff meetings
• Mentor junior staff
Additional Comments Salary Range: $73,284 - $92,693
