Minimum Qualifications In order to be eligible to be considered for appointment, candidates must be reachable from the Civil Service List for this position or be eligible for transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law. At the interview, candidates must be prepared to demonstrate how their backgrounds meet the profile items selected for this purpose.

Duties Description The incumbent of this position will serve as the Section Head for the Data Management and Support Section in the Public Transportation Bureau (PTB). This Section is responsible for the oversight and coordination of general Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and New York State mandated reporting on statewide public transportation programs and issues; the development and production of ad hoc reports that inform executive management in the budget-making process; financial data analysis and reporting/analysis of transit system-related data; and data projections as needed. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Supervise a unit engaged in the production and delivery of reports and analysis of grants, budgets and financial data, inventory and assets, ensuring data quality and timeliness of response;
• Actively engage staff in determining requirements for the replacement of existing systems to modernize the production of reports and data capturing, to improve the provision of technical or informational communications to sub-recipients relative to compliance and payment-related activities;
• Work with staff in Accounting/Transportation Budgeting Bureau (TBB) and others, integrate reporting/data to standardize operations assuring associated grant funding/payments tracking is accurate and reconciled;
• Review work flow and processes to streamline activities and make recommendations to the Bureau Director on process improvements;
• As needed, direct staff analysis of program data and make final recommendation to the Bureau Director;
• Present training or other materials to staff, sub-recipients or the public to inform and advise them of FTA grant programs and/or state transportation programs as assigned;
• May provide project coordination/oversight for projects involving IT system projects in conjunction with other PTB Section Heads and others; and
• May be assigned special projects.
Additional responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the Department’s response to Regional and Statewide emergency situations.
