Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries; marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.

Duties Description The Aquatic Toxicant Research Unit conducts toxicity tests and fish collections, studying the effects of contaminants. Seasonal F&W Technician will assist with laboratory toxicity tests. They will assist with the collection of fish, amphibians, and birds. Much of the work is outside.

Duties include: assist in setting up and conducting lab and field toxicity tests; conducting surveys for fish and amphibians using various fish collection techniques; monitoring of nest boxes for birds and mist netting for birds; assisting with data entry, data summarization and completion of summary reports related to work on these and other projects. Incumbents should have a demonstrated ability to identify fish and/or northeastern bird species. Experience in the use of GPS and Excel is preferred. Experience in recording data in the field preferred. Position involves travel from the office to study sites and will require long days and often require early morning and evening hours.

Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and/or work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overtime may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration of 4/25/19 through 11/30/19. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to dates listed. Actual work schedule, duties, and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
