Minimum Qualifications Open to current NYS employees who are currently in an Economic Development Program Specialist 1 title or eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. Also open to those reachable on the Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list.
Candidates appointed at the Trainee 1 level will need to successfully complete a two-year traineeship before advancing to the EDPS1, SG-18 level.
PCO Candidate Advanced Placement Options:
• Trainee 2 Minimum Qualifications = Bachelor’s degree, plus one year of professional experience**; or a Master’s degree, Juris Doctor, or higher degree in a related field
• Full Level (SG-18; not serving as a trainee) Placement = Bachelor’s degree, plus two years of professional experience**; or a Master’s degree, Juris Doctor, or higher degree in a related field, plus one year of professional experience

Duties Description Under the mentorship of senior staff within the Strategic Business Division, the incumbent of this position will focus on industry development, and will assist with servicing the agribusiness, clean tech, advanced materials and other industry clusters, as assigned.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Work with senior staff to identify, assist, and attract businesses in the agribusiness, clean technology, advanced materials and other industries, as assigned
• Identify suitable sites or infrastructure for development
• Organize and participate on site visits, in coordination with local developers
• Assess state and local incentives for business attraction/retention
• Prepare incentive proposals (IPs) for agency-approved projects
• Prepare press briefings and reports
• Study and develop industry-expertise in the assigned cluster areas for which the incumbent is charged with assisting
• Address requests from senior management and/or the Executive Chamber
• Prepare/Submit biweekly progress summaries
• Participate during staff meetings
Additional Comments Salary Range: $56,604 - $71,980
