Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES:

Supervising Unemployment Insurance Hearing Representatives are responsible for reviewing the performance of and providing direction to supervisors who observe and monitor the work of staff in the Adjudication Services Offices (ASO), affecting methods to improve performance and production, and overseeing the operations of the ASO offices which includes: reviewing the performance of and providing direction to supervisors who observe and monitor the review; preparation and trial of cases by Senior Hearing Representatives; conferring with and advising Associate Unemployment Insurance Hearing Representatives on difficult and complex cases involving questions of precedence or policy or novel questions of law and fact; planning, coordinating and/or conducting training in the Adjudication Services Office and other UID units as requested; and analyzing recommendations by staff for appeal from Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) decisions to the Unemployment Insurance Appeal Board and submitting them to the Appeals unit for approval or disapproval. Other duties include representing the Commissioner of Labor at Appeal Board and ALJ hearings and conferring, cooperating and coordinating with other organizational units such as the Appeal Board regarding the processing of trial cases, hearing calendar redistribution and case file construction. Coordinating the activities and assignments with the other Upstate and Downstate ASO Supervising Unemployment Insurance Hearing Representatives and ASO management. Duties also include performing a variety of special projects such as the UI modernization, the electronic case file and the LEAN initiatives.
