Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS:
Education Level Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related degree.
Equivalent Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in finance/financial project management and reporting. Experience in financial analysis, accounting and/or internal audit. Ability to create and maintain Excel financial spreadsheets, analyses and reconciliations.
Knowledge Desired: Outstanding analytical skills a must. Strong Microsoft Office skills are required. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and meet established deadlines. Knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred.
Duties Description Basic Function: Manage daily financial oversight of assigned ESD’s subsidiary(ies) and/or large-scale corporate project(s). Function as the Controller’s department lead contact with the subsidiary and project staff and remain proficient in all matters including, but not limited to, funding sources, contractual terms and obligations, vendor payments, budgets and cash flows.
Work Performed:
• Function as primary liaison with respect to all financial matters.
• Understand key issues related to the use of funding and associated disbursements to assist in the financial management of assigned subsidiary(ies)/corporate project(s).
• Accurately maintain appropriate records and report all financial activity between the subsidiary(ies) and ESD.
• Possess an understanding of basic accounting principles and financial analysis.
• Perform a comprehensive review of all vendor payment requests for assigned subsidiary(ies)/ corporate project(s) that shall include, but not be limited to, verification of amounts due through the provision of satisfactory supporting documentation, confirmation of adequate funding and budgetary authority, assurance that all required internal/external approvals are in place, and inclusion of memoranda sufficient to explain any unusual or noteworthy elements of the underlying transaction(s).
• Review and provide comments on all contractual agreements.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, continually review budget variances and investigate and timely report notable issues to management.
• Update all internal reports on a regular basis.
• Review and comment upon as necessary all items to be presented to the subsidiary’s or ESD Board of Directors.
• Maintain continual communication with all subsidiary and project staff and corporate departments to efficiently and effectively perform job tasks.
• Participate in special projects and perform special analyses as assigned.
