Minimum Qualifications Candidate must be a graduate student with a concentration in Business Administration, Financial Studies, Human Resources, Public Administration, or a related field of study. Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills; strong written and oral communication skills; and ability to work independently and within a group

Duties Description The General Government Unit oversees agencies that provide critical centralized services to other State entities and local governments. Some examples are: Procurement, fleet management, real property management, architecture/design and construction management, surplus property, energy conservation, and the Business Services Center. The general government agencies are heavily involved in a variety of policy areas ranging from the Green New Deal and legalization of cannabis to the Women's Agenda and Election Reform.

Internship Opportunity Details:
The intern will serve as a Division of Budget (DOB) liaison between a variety of State agencies and DOB budget examiners. Tasks may include:

• Conducting in-depth studies and participating in projects;
• Researching best practices in reducing duplication of effort/streamlining;
• Researching alternatives to the existing shared services model;
• Collaborate in reviewing and recommending proposals for inclusion in future State budgets, to increase the efficiency of shared services; and
• Participate in budget examiner duties including the review and evaluation of proposals to identify budgetary and programmatic impacts and project/monitor agency spending.

The internship will provide an excellent opportunity to develop relationships throughout New York State government, explore best-practices and conduct independent analysis.
