Duties Description Duties may include:
- Provide the necessary support to the Department’s legal staff including preparation, organization and maintenance of case files. Keep legal staff informed of deadlines. Produce reports including reports on open and closed files.
- Assists in the Department’s review and processing of Freedom of Information requests.
- Provide necessary support required to carry out the Department’s responsibilities to local governments regarding local enactments.
- Provide support as directed by assigned attorney for turnover proceedings including drafting documents, arranging service and mailings and prepares and files.
- Provides assistance to the New York State Attorney General’s Office on all New York State Supreme Court litigation in which the Department is a named party.
- Completes routine investigative work for attorney review. Research and analyze legal issues using a wide variety of legal sources.
- Notarizing large volumes of waivers of citation for Estate Tax matters.
- Review routine draft technical documents.
- Assist in the eDiscovery process including performing electronic searches in Department databases, shared drives, and email systems.
- Adheres to the Department’s time and attendance policies.
