Minimum Qualifications Current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service as a Secretary 1, G-11, OR a NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a position allocated to a G-9 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. (Successful completion of a keyboarding performance test may be required.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: The preferred candidate will be able to handle multiple diverse tasks in a busy atmosphere, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail, and desire to work as a team member in planning and implementing work-related activities. The preferred candidate will be able to speak and write effectively in a professional manner with outside agency staff and members of the public. The preferred candidate will also have a high level of competence using the following computer programs: the Statewide Financial System, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Duties Description Within the Office of Community Transitions (OCT), the incumbent for this position will provide the principal administrative support for activities related to the transition of individuals with disabilities to a community setting with necessary supports. Specific duties include: maintaining records that include protected health information; entering and retrieving data from databases and spreadsheets; scheduling, coordinating, and preparing for meetings, conference calls, and conferences; maintaining individual and program calendars; assisting in the preparation of preparing routine reports; handling incoming and outgoing mail; answering telephone and electronic correspondence and forwarding to appropriate staff when necessary; ensuring compliance with administrative policies and procedures; tracking inventory and ordering supplies; assisting with special projects as assigned; designing and maintaining office filing systems, both electronic and paper; and coordinating information flow between office staff, outside agencies, and contractors.
