Duties Description
The incumbent of this position will be an integral part of the Office of Communications. Under the supervision of a Public Information Specialist 2, duties include, but are not limited to:
• Write, contribute to, review and approve press releases to be distributed both regionally and statewide on behalf of DOT.
• Work in conjunction with creating and reviewing press releases on behalf of the Governor’s press operations, ensuring that all information is accurate.
• Play a direct role in shaping the responses and promoting consistent messaging as assigned by the Department’s Communications Director to upwards of a dozen media inquiries per day.
• Use resourcefulness and Department knowledge in managing press calls on tight deadlines.
• Contribute to and review content posted on DOT’s website.
• Be an integral part of DOT’s Twitter and Facebook accounts, and foster the growth of DOT’s social medical footprint.
• Provide assistance to the regional PIO’s in regards to social media strategy and planning.
• Manage public information initiatives across all regional offices to ensure that accurate and consistent information is being distributed.
• Review, evaluate, update, and improve DOT publications, documents and training materials as needed.
Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the Department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
Multimedia communications and marketing experience are a plus.
