Duties Description
Job duties of the incumbent may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Serve as supervisor of the Permit Unit in Region 7 Traffic Safety and Mobility, establish work priorities and schedules, and organize appropriate training activities for Region 7 Permit Unit; manage all aspects of Region 7 Permit Unit related to processing Highway Work Permits, Special Use Permits, and Special Hauling Permits; issue Special Hauling Permits as necessary; represent Region 7 at statewide Highway Work Permits and Special Hauling Permit meetings; assist Regional Traffic Engineer, Resident Engineers, and other regional units with issues concerning the review and issuance of Highway Work Permits, Special Use Permits, and Special Hauling Permits; review and resolve comments to Traffic Impact Studies for Highway Work Permits; conduct or coordinate all necessary HCS and Synchro/SimTraffic analyses and reviews submitted for Highway Work Permits; respond to inquiries from elected officials and representatives of local jurisdictions concerning the review and issuance of Highway Work Permits, Special Use Permits, and Special Hauling Permits; conduct and coordinate all meetings with developers and contractors relative to application and issuance of Highway Work Permits, Special Use Permits; ensure that all overheight and overweight restrictions for Region 7 highways and bridges are entered into the pre-screening tool; and work closely with Supervisors of Operational Studies, Safety Evaluations, and Traffic Signals on issues of mutual concern to Region 7 Traffic Safety and Mobility.
