Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries; marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.
Duties Description This position involves a wide range of technical applications of fisheries management techniques. Duties include: conducting fisheries field sampling trips; coordinating fish stock events involving volunteers and hatchery staff; maintaining field sampling gear including nets, electrofishing equipment and boats, completing data sheets and aging fish. Good communication skills are necessary, as well as good mechanical skills. Computer skills in GIS, word processing, spreadsheets and Microsoft Access is preferred
Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and/or work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds.
This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration of 6/1/2019 to 3/31/2020. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to date listed. Actual work schedule, duties, and hours may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
