Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must be reachable on the Chief Computer Operator departmental list OR

must be eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 or 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

To be eligible for a 52.6 or 70.1 transfer, candidate must have one year of permanent service in a qualifying title allocated to salary grade 21 or above.

Duties Description · Plan, organize and direct the daily activities of the Computer Operations’ computer operators.

· Prepare adequate, accurate and up to date logs, procedures or documentation exist for all responsible activities conducted by subordinate staff.

· Conduct systematic reconciliation of all check or controlled documents and confirm they are completed timely and accurately.

· Maintain accurate inventory and documentation of supplies, stock and materials needed in computer operations that are consumed during daily operations.

· Investigate and address any system or production situation and ensure support area is promptly notified according to policy, documentation or procedure.

· Assist subordinate staff with analyzing job issues, errors, corrective action, and communication to support areas as necessary.

· Identify, document, or make suggestions to address any defects, inefficiencies, or general improvement opportunities.

· Interact and communicate in a clear and concise manner with vendors, application programmers and other staff when necessary.

· Maintain appropriate staffing levels, attaining maximum and efficient utilization of personnel and equipment.

· Supervise and motivate staff in a manner that makes optimum use of their existing abilities and assists them in improving their level of knowledge, skills, and ability.

· Confirm and assist subordinate staff in ensuring that overtime is assigned in a manner consistent with union and Agency agreements.

· Supervise and direct the day to day computer operations, production, and staff activities as required during assigned shift(s).

· Advise Operations manager of significant decisions, issues, and pending matters.

· Complete probationary and annual performance evaluations.

· Oversee the instruction and training of subordinate staff in the operation of the main consoles and peripheral equipment.

· Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work environment.
