55-b/55-c Candidates must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications above and include with their resume or application, a copy of the letter from Civil Service which indicates approval for the 55-b/55-c program.
A bachelor's or higher level degree in one of the physical or natural sciences, environmental sciences, engineering, economics, or planning, AND two years of full-time professional experience in the establishment of environmental policies; preparing or reviewing climate relevant policies, plans, projects, regulations or environmental impact statements; preparing climate-relevant professional testimony for use in hearings or trials involving environmental matters; or preparing environmental analysis of climate change issues. A Master's degree in one of the required disciplines may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
Duties Description The Climate Policy Analyst 1 will work within the Office of Climate Change (OCC) to support development and implementation of policies and programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ensure continued progress in meeting the Governor’s commitments on climate change. The CPA 1 will support development and implementation of programs and policies related to land use and natural-resource management practices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to a changing climate, including Methane Reduction Plan, soil carbon sequestration studies, and improved inventories to document progress in achieving the Governor’s greenhouse gas reduction goals. The CPA 1 will also contribute to projects led by OCC staff. The CPA 1 may be directed to research and report on projects, review data, analyze problems and recommend solutions, communicate with staff from other programs and agencies, engage with stakeholders, and provide written and oral responses to public inquiries.
Additional Comments Must have valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Travel, overtime, and overnight travel may be required.
