Minimum Qualifications Current license and registration to practice medicine in New York State AND board-eligible or board-certified in a medical specialty, and one (1) year of experience in a clinical, hospital, or patient-care setting. Must maintain credentials to remain employable.

Preferred Qualifications:
Specialty in Pediatrics, Developmental Pediatrics, Physiatry, or Physical Medicine.

Duties Description The incumbent will be responsible to review prior approval requests and issue denials as indicated, provide medical expertise in support of daily activities involving prior approval of certain Medicaid reimbursable goods and services in the Medical Indemnity Fund; adjudicate claims pended for manual review and pricing, review specific coverage, enrollment and coding issues; examine patient records; assess the quality of patient care received; prepare written reports on provider adherence to requirements of the Medicaid Program; and provide oral testimony at hearings on the State’s behalf. The incumbent will participate in internal and external committees and work with other Medical Directors on Medicaid policy and initiatives.
