Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics/ Biostatistics, Environmental Health, Environmental Science or a related field, and four years of full-time, professional research experience in conducting epidemiological studies/surveillance OR a Master’s degree and three years of such experience OR a doctorate in an appropriate field and one year of such experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in environmental health epidemiologic investigations and research; experience epidemiological studies and or surveillance of state or local childhood lead poisoning data; surveillance database software skills for the analysis of data (SAS); experience in geospatial analyses and software (ArcGIS, MapInfo); ability to lead and work collaboratively in a team; experience using research and translating results for policy development.
Duties Description The Research Scientist 3 will be responsible for directing research, with a focus on lead poisoning and healthy housing. Major responsibilities will include direct oversight of data collection activities, including overall responsibility for data quality for multiple large data systems. Duties will also include designing and conducting research studies on cross-cutting initiatives; performing data organization, data linkage and analysis, including geospatial analysis; and summarizing results through tables, graphs and reports; providing scientific and epidemiologic advice data interpretation and providing recommendations for public health protection and policy.
Additional Comments Permanent, full-time, non-competitive appointment. Routine travel, including occasional overnight travel and travel to areas which may not be served by public transportation.
