Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Manager, Information Technology Services 1.

Eligible List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for Manager, Information Technology Services 1. If you are on the Civil Service eligible list Manager, Information Technology Services 1, you may receive a canvass letter. You must complete and return it as instructed on the letter.

Section 52.6 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-25 or above deemed eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking applicants for a Manager, Information Technology Services 1 position. The incumbent of this position will be responsible for the oversight and implementation of the Development Operations Unit, including adopting new development operation tools, practices, and standards. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Plan, prioritize, schedule, and direct the implementation of the Development Operations Unit in order to support and streamline the system development functions of the Department;
• Maintain responsibility for development operations including collaboration with ITS technical units, development of ITS work plans and budgets, and identification of technical, fiscal, and staffing resource requirements;
• Collaborate with ITS development staff to assist and help execute development operation technologies;
• Assign work to subordinate supervisors, monitor project progress, review major initiatives, and make recommendations as appropriate;
• Coordinate, manage, and monitor vendor contracts and delivery of vendor services;
• Recommend and participate in the development of future ITS system development practices and standards;
• Develop technical, supervisory, and leadership skills for self and subordinates; and
• Assist in the overall planning, supervision, and operation of ITS.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a contingent permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointee’s negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. This position requires occasional off-shift night and weekend work.

*Leads to a maximum salary of $111,316 based on annual performance advances.
