Minimum Qualifications Promotional minimum qualifications: Must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as follows: three months as a Dentist 1 or 2.
For Appointment: one year as a Dentist 1, or one year as a Dentist 2. (E 7/13/18)
Open-competitive minimum qualifications: Possession of a valid license and registration to practice dentistry in New York State; AND
Three years of full-time post licensure dentistry experience, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity in a dental health setting.
Duties Description General dental practitioners also administer institutional dental programs. Such administrative activities are characterized by responsibility for performing employee counseling, consulting on acute dental conditions referred by subordinate dentist, coordinating dental services with other clinical specialties, training staff and ordering and maintaining dental equipment and supplies. As a general dental practitioner, incumbents perform the full range of professional dental tasks in connection with the diagnosis and treatment of dental diseases and injuries of teeth and gums as prescribed by agency policy and procedures. Other duties as assigned.
