Minimum Qualifications Current Office of General Services employee with permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service as an Office Assistant 2 (Stores/Mail) and interested in reassignment; OR current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service as an Office Assistant 2 (Stores/Mail); OR current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service in a position allocated to a Grade 7 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

• Supervise staff in the maintenance and operation of an operational program unit that stocks tools, supplies and materials.
• Initiate purchases of stock items for replenishment using credit card and purchase requisitions; complete required paperwork and record accounting in the Statewide Financial System (SFS) and in the AiM Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Compile, review and maintain data from contracts, purchase orders, requisitions, and other documents in order to assess supply needs.
• Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
• Load, unload and place in proper locations deliveries of supplies and materials.
• Issue or distribute materials, products, parts, and supplies and record data into AiM for all transactions.
• Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Recommend disposal of excess, defective or obsolete stock.
• Maintain a variety of storeroom records and preparation of weekly and monthly reports.
• Communicate with agency staff, users and vendors to resolve discrepancies.
• Provide subordinates with specific instructions concerning the preparation of documents, processing of materials and maintenance of records.
Additional Comments Operational Needs:
• Ability to bend, lift, climb, and to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to operate a variety of materials handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Successful completion of OSHA forklift training and certification within 90 days of appointment.
• Travel between storeroom locations.
• Occasional mandatory overtime.
