Minimum Qualifications A Master's degree in Plant Science, Horticulture or a related field, and strong professional or research background in Plant Sciences, Plant Pathology, or Plant Healthcare with relevant occupational experience.
The ability to work with faculty in an interdisciplinary setting, including disciplines as varied as environmental science and agricultural engineering.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching, effective communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work as part of a dynamic team.
The ability to prepare and implement applied laboratory exercises.
Duties Description Department Instructional Expectations:
Plan, develop, and present organized learning opportunities for students in accordance with course outlines.
Prepare curriculum materials, syllabi, and other instructional materials.
Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate level, particularly in courses with hands-on or field-based labs.
Prepare and shutdown own classes and labs.
Maintain accurate student records, including attendance and grades.
Provide students with meaningful feedback in a timely manner.
Comply with institutional deadlines.
Maintain office hours and availability to students.
Focus on continuous improvement of one's course curriculum, content delivery, assessment, and responsiveness to student needs.
Additional Comments This is a full time. 10 month, non-tenure track appointment.
This is a NSA-6 salary level.
The salary range for this position is $40,000-$45,000.
The anticipated start date for this position is August 2019.
