Minimum Qualifications 1. License and current registration to practice medicine in New
York State or a New York State limited permit and licensure in
another state or Canada;

2. Certification in Psychiatry issued by the American Board of
Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or equivalent certifying
body; and

3. Seven (7) years of experience providing services to people
diagnosed with mental illness, two (2) years of which must
have included supervising physicians and other clinical staff
responsible for the delivery of treatment services; providing
direction to staff regarding program objectives and the
implementation of policy; and providing guidance to various
clinical specialists.

In addition, candidates must be eligible for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.

NOTE: Experience in a children’s mental health treatment program and/or Board Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is preferred.

Duties Description The Clinical Director serves as the Chief Medical Officer of SCPC and is responsible for the administration, oversight, evaluation, and continuous improvement of all psychiatric, medical, and contracted medical services provided by SCPC. Under the direction of the Executive Director and within the framework of a close collaborative working relationship with other hospital executive cabinet members, the Clinical Director supervises the credentialing and privileging process, and has primary responsibility for developing, updating, and implementing facility-wide clinical policies and procedures that promote person centered care and recovery. Together with the other members of the facility’s Executive Cabinet, the Clinical Director ensures that SCPC is in compliance with all Office of Mental Health (OMH), Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC) and other external accrediting bodies’ standards, rules, and regulations. Ultimately, the Clinical Director ensures that the clinical mission of the facility is successfully aligned with the overall mission of OMH to promote the mental health and well-being of all New Yorkers, so they can reach their ultimate goal of hope and recovery.

Additional Comments Sagamore Children’s Psychiatric Center (SCPC), is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Clinical Director, Psychiatric Center. SCPC is a state-operated, Joint Commission accredited, 54 inpatient bed facility located in Dix Hills, New York. The facility provides a comprehensive array of behavioral health care services to youth with serious emotional disturbances that helps foster recovery and successful functioning in the home, school, and community. SCPC offers a full range of programs and services including inpatient hospitalization, day hospitalization, day treatment, outpatient clinic treatment, outpatient clinical support services, mobile mental health teams, crisis services, information and referral, and community training within a safe and therapeutic environment.
