Note: Candidates who are currently on the eligible list for the Supervising Hearing Officer in Brooklyn need not submit an application for this posting unless they are applying directly as a result of the transfer qualifications listed above.
NOTE: Candidates must be law school graduates who are admitted to the New York State Bar and whose membership is in good standing. Please be sure to include in your resume or cover letter the specific Civil Service title which qualifies you for transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
Duties Description Under the general direction of a Principal Hearing Officer, the Supervising Hearing Officer is responsible for the supervision of Hearing Officers. Duties may include, but are not limited, to: Supervising a unit of Hearing Officers, offering guidance and training. Reviewing and monitoring decisions of all assigned Hearing Officers, assists trainees with hearings, decisions and difficult appellants and their representatives. Holds hearings and drafts decisions as needed.
Additional Comments A full-time, contingent permanent appointment will be made. You must be a current NYS employee to apply for this position. If certified by Civil Service, mandatory reemployment list candidates must be considered first for appointment to this title.
