Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Reassignment: One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Investigative Specialist 4 (Professional Conduct).
Non-Competitive Appointment: For non-competitive appointment, candidates must have two years of permanent non-competitive service as an Investigative Specialist 2.
Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of the Professions is seeking applicants for an Investigative Specialist 4 (Professional Conduct) position in the New York City Office of Professional Discipline (OPD). Under the general direction of the Director, Division of Investigations, the Investigative Specialist 4 (Professional Conduct) will supervise and coordinate the investigative program for the Division of Investigations. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Serve as a regional Deputy Director of OPD and supervise Investigative Specialist 2’s within the region;
• Meet and consult with subordinate staff and OPD leadership to determine priorities of investigations, allocation of staff, and the use of investigative techniques to be used in investigations;
• Direct training of investigative staff;
• Participate in the selection of new staff;
• Conduct unusually large or complex investigations;
• Review cases to ensure compliance with Division and Department policies;
• Act as a liaison with federal, state, and local agencies; and
• Participate in outreach programs.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent, non-competitive appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Verification of degree/experience will be required at the time of interview for all candidates. Routine in-state travel to other district offices is required.
*Leads to a maximum salary of $111,316 based on annual performance advances.
** This salary includes $3,026 annual downstate location adjustment.
